Now-certified indoor packaged heat pump line adds inverter compressor technology for improved energy efficiency.

TORONTO, ON — September 29, 2026 — Genuine Comfort, Canada’s leading brand and distributor of packaged terminal air conditioners (PTACs) and room air solutions, today announced that its Twin Duct Monobloc PHP has earned certification from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), confirming the unit meets recognized North American energy efficiency standards.

The certification gives contractors, developers, and HVAC professionals a verified reference point when specifying the system for residential and commercial projects, and clears the unit for installation across the Canadian and U.S. markets.

Alongside certification, the monobloc line (GCMB) now ships with an inverter compressor, replacing fixed-speed operation with variable-capacity output. The compressor modulates to match real-time load rather than cycling on and off. This improves part-load efficiency, tightens temperature control, and reduces sound levels and electrical draw during normal operation.

“When we worked with our manufacturing partner to build this, the key thing we focused on was making it North American ready,” said Derek Pilling, Director of Product at Genuine Comfort. “Which means it has to work in the buildings that already exist here, and hold performance from Canadian cold snaps to Texan heat waves without sacrificing efficiency, noise levels, and aesthetics.”

Built for buildings that can’t take outdoor equipment

GCMB is designed for applications where outdoor equipment is impractical, restricted, or prohibited. Because the entire system sits indoors, it preserves the building’s exterior appearance and eliminates the roof, balcony, and ground-level equipment that other systems require.

It ships in three different configurations, including heat pump with electric heat, heat-pump-only, and cooling-only. Two additional series share the GCMB platform: the smaller-capacity GCMBL and the vertical-style GCMBV.

Following certification, contractors, developers, and HVAC professionals can specify the Twin Duct Monobloc PHP with documented performance data.
